Karlsruhe, December 7, 2016 – With the CarMaker product family, IPG Automotive offers simulation solutions for continuous use throughout the entire vehicle development process. The open integration and test platforms CarMaker, TruckMaker and MotorcycleMaker ensure that test driving is always reproducible – even when flexibly varying vehicle or route data, driver behavior or operating strategies. Virtual test driving thus guarantees efficient vehicle development at any stage of the process.
The Dyno Interface enables a safe and user-friendly integration of the simulation environments CarMaker, TruckMaker and MotorcycleMaker into engine, powertrain and chassis dynamometers of different manufacturers, allowing for the use of virtual vehicle prototypes and real-world driving simulation on the test bench. The method is ideal for RDE and real consumption analyses, even in early phases of the development process without available vehicle prototypes. The interface was specifically developed for test bench operation and allows for a real-time closed-loop integration of the system under test into the virtual vehicle prototype, taking real-world driving including driver, vehicle and road to the test bench. The Dyno Interface features an integrated safety concept, which monitors the test bench and the simulation software continuously and ensures the correct data exchange between them. To this end, several bus systems such as EtherCAT or CAN are supported for the data transfer between simulation and test bench. The user can observe the test run in real time on the screen.
The Dyno Interface by IPG Automotive is a highly flexible solution for the integration of real-world driving simulation into existing or new test benches. It allows for manual or fully automated test bench operation as well as an integrated use of DoE or optimization tools during testing and calibration. Reproducible and automated development and testing under real-world conditions become possible by means of the interface. With the Dyno Interface, development and testing can be conducted efficiently throughout the entire development process – including concept studies in early phases – despite complex requirements.
